Babies are so innocent and sensitive to all of the new things in their new life upon entering this world, and we all, in good faith, do our best in protecting them. Big commercial companies on the other hand…not so much…
It is our responsibility to learn what harmful ingredients might be used in some of those products that are deemed to be safe so that we can do our part in protecting their little bodies from harm.
The most common ingredient found in commercial baby oils is mineral oil. Mineral oil by definition is a distillation product of petroleum. It is a liquid by-product of refining crude oil to make gasoline and other petroleum products…most of those baby oils also contain “fragrance”, which can list up to 4,000 individual ingredients that manufacturers are not even required to reveal... does that sound like anything that you can trust or want to lather all over your sweet, fresh, soft & pure brand new baby? I don’t think so!
Most commercial baby oils out there on the market are actually damaging to the skin and the nervous system, can cause and/or heighten major skin issues, contain carcinogens and negatively impact hormonal health. The skin is the largest organ of the body, and these harmful chemicals absorb into the body through the skin.
Unfortunately, many mamas do not even know how damaging and dangerous these ingredients can be because if its being sold on the shelves of the supermarkets and advertised as safe, it should be ok, right?…WRONG!
Baby Oil, however CAN be extremely safe and helpful for babies skin.

Colloidal Oatmeal - Boasts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that benefit the skin.
